Rejected ideas

Here is a list of ideas that I have decided to not proceed with. Please feel free to bring them to life.

Some, most, or many of them may already exist. This list has been in creation since the early 2010s. I realise this and also that may be the reason I decided to abandon them. Do due diligence and all that.


  • Something that sticks to or drops into the bath to cause waves to stop the water line marking the bath
  • Something that sits in the bath mixing the water up so hot and cold are evenly distributed
  • Something that analyses then shows what a website is running (WordPress, Blogspot, Drupal, etc)
  • Public spark/notes website
  • JustEat for everything
  • A service that automatically buys gifts for people through Amazon etc in time for their birthday
  • kickstarter / indiegogo for charities
  • Site that has verified contact information for companies. Also include whether it’s a direct line or how long on average people wait on hold before being answered
  • Website that tells you what channel/service is showing specific sporting events
  • IMDB for authors
  • Stat Tracker app that could track any and all fantasy sports teams no matter what the site
  • Online wish list registry so everyone knew what to buy you for bday/xmas etc
  • WebMD for law
  • Site that lets you search for specific item/service, site searches across all daily deal sites and provides comparison data –¬†isthereanydeal.com for real life things
  • Site/App that challenges you on the subject of your choice with Q/A and projects on a user-specified schedule to maintain or improve desired skillset
  • Velcro Xmas trees with ornaments that can be thrown at the tree
  • Purse lights, when you open the purse it lights up giving additional light to see purse contents
  • On peoples bday post a Facebook card to the person’s wall and allow others to sign it
  • Email inbox tidy service
  • Theatre archives – An archive of old theatre shows, cast list, etc
  • Quiz “What would I have been in medieval times” – Royal Guard, Prince, Mercenary, Priest, etc
  • Website that lets bands book gigs and venues accept/deny/pay on site. Band payment automatically calculated by generating a score by pulling data from Spotify, LastFM, how far band needs to travel to venue, etc. Service lists venues sorted by distance and how likely a booking is based on previous band scores
  • Website where you can search through lyrics etc and in one click publish a clipping to Facebook etc as an image
  • Your Mom’s Crackers – Christmas crackers with crude jokes
  • Website that you input your skills and it displays career choices as a venn diagram
  • YouTube for gamers
  • Toilet finding app shows locations of public toilets. Allows rating of toilets across seat quality, cleanliness, dodgy location, stall count, etc. Include an “I pooped here” check-in button
  • Angry Stream – Connect two people together chatroulette style with the idea that both people are pissed off at the time and they just get to yell at each other
  • Racing video game that requires 2 people per vehicle. One person drives while the other person shoots other racers
  • Film – Aliens invade earth but it turns out they’re delicious so we eat them, we end up reverse invading them so we can eat more. It turns out the aliens are wimps just trying to look hard. Our tech is more advanced they got here on effectively space rafts. Humans don’t win this time the aliens defend their planet by accident/fluke and we all die a bit
  • Film – Real life hacking. Somehow make a nerd sitting at a computer for 3 hours occasionally swearing interesting. Occasionally time wipe and tissues appear around the desk. There’s a reason they dumb it down in movies.
  • Book on how to make you a millionaire – Firstly you need to unleash your “inner me”, no not your inner you, your inner me. I know what I’m doing you’re reading my book not vice versa. Next you write a book on how to become a millionaire and you sell that to a bunch of people.
  • Film based in a little green army men toy universe
  • Live maps for public transport. Buses, Trains, etc. Show a few stats like average wait, average journey time, silly stats too like best bus lap times
  • YouTuber Lets Play collaboration tool – Let YouTubers log in using their YT account and pair them up based on what games each own, channel relative sizes, etc
  • YouTube playlist flipper. Take a playlist link and flip all the videos so that they’re listed the other way
  • Lore Q&A – A site where people can ask theoretical questions within the confines of fictional universes. e.g. In Harry Potter universe what would happen if you dual wielded wands – would the spell you’re casting come out of both
  • Disillusionment – A YouTube series where someone half heartedly performs magic tricks revealing how they’re done. “Pick a card” “Ace of Spades” “This is a trick deck they’re all the ace of spades.” drops deck all over floor
  • Tic Tac Toe Twist – Website with standard games of tic tac toe except after each turn the board spins rapidly a random number of rotations
  • Personal grooming – A barber shop for pubes
  • David Attenborough show but inside video games
  • Emergency catering service – Burned the turkey? We’ll sort you out a freshly cooked one with a hefty price markup
  • I Got A Guy For That – An online service that you can just SMS/Email/etc and they get the job done for you. e.g. book restaurant table, send flowers for someone, etc
  • Alternative to Disqus
  • Browser plugin that lets you “mark” a page’s HTML element and makes the browser ping and notify if that element changes
  • Shutdown the podcast – A podcast going into why businesses shut down, interviews with the founders, ex employees, etc
  • Horror film – Kid wakes up scared of monster under bed, Dad goes half under pretending he’s being pulled in by the monster. Has a bit of a laugh. Really gets pulled completely under the bed. Other things occur as a result
  • Do You Feel Old Yet – A site that lists things that happened on the current day x years ago. TV shows starting, films released, major news, etc
